Description

Fielder is the new series by Kevin Huizenga, author of the classic Ganges series of over-sized comics, featuring four new stories by the multi-Ignatz winning, Eisner, and Harvey nominated cartoonist. Reminiscent of current one-man anthologies like Sammy Harkham's Crickets and Adrian Tomine's Optic Nerve , this new "comics magazine" will center on Huizenga's character, Glenn Ganges, in different genre-bending roles. This issue will feature the first chapter of the new graphic novel, "Fielder, Michiana," as well as a continuation of Huizenga's dinosaur adventure comic, "Bona," and some of his short "Viral Webcomics" series.

Chester Brown (artist)Chester Brown (writer)Chester Brown (cover_artist)

Description

The iconoclastic cartoonist of Paying for It returns with a polemical interpretation of the Bible that will be one of the decade's most controversial graphic novels. Mary Wept over the Feet of Jesus is the retelling in comics form of nine biblical stories that present Chester Brown's fascinating and startling thesis about biblical representations of prostitution. Brown weaves a connecting line between Bathsheba, Ruth, Rahab, Tamar, Mary of Bethany, and the Virgin Mother and reassesses the Christian moral code by examining the cultural implications of the Bible's representations of sex work.

River At Night

Creative Team

Kevin Huizenga (artist)Kevin Huizenga (writer)Kevin Huizenga (cover_artist)

Description

In The River at Night , Kevin Huizenga, author of the acclaimed series Ganges , delves deep into consciousness. What begins as a simple, distracted conversation between husband and wife becomes an exploration of being and the passage of time. It flashes back, first to satirize the dot-com boom of the late 1990s and then to examine the camaraderie of playing first-person shooter video games with work colleagues, to ponder what the passage of time feels like to geologists or productivity gurus. The River at Night is a modern formalist masterpiece as empathetic, inventive, and funny as anything ever written.
