Anna Haifisch
Cover Artist
Artist The Portfolio Edition TP (Mr)
Creative Team
- A/W/CAAnna Haifisch
Description
Breakdown Press are excited to bring Anna Haifisch’s The Artist back to print in a new omnibus edition, collecting both the original 2016 graphic novel and it’s 2019 follow-up, The Circle of Life, along with additional strips including the brand new Bird Opera. Now readers can experience the whole story in one hilarious and heart-wrenching volume, exposing the absurdity of the fine art world as experienced by a young artist. Anna Haifisch’s idiosyncratic, episodic comic chronicles the formative years of a young artist, satirising the exclusive, ephemeral and absurd world of fine art with all of its arcane protocols and quirks. Plagued by doubts and anxiety, the artist confronts constant setbacks and tantalizingly occasional glimpses of success. Based on Haifisch’s own experiences as an illustrator in both Germany and the USA, The Artist is a sharp and self-deprecating comedy that will resonate with anyone who has ever tried to make art. In The Artist, Haifisch has exposed the very nerves of what it means to be an artist in a world of ever shifting rules and complications, to hilarious and insightful ends.

Limbo TP (Mr)
Creative Team
- A/W/CAFerry Gouw
Description
In an unnamed country, air heavy with the heat of imminent uprising, the decision to go running alone after dark sets in motion a chain of chances and choices that change everybody they touch. Cai, sculptor at an arts residency in an upscale resort, and his colleague Lisa, a local working as his aide, are drawn into a complex series of events in which myth rises in the shadow of politics and the bright lights of festive fireworks. Breakdown Press are excited to publish Ferry Gouw’s new comic Limbo, an exciting and compelling rumination on belonging, the hidden truth of folklore, and the insidious coiling of colonialism. Drawn in luminous, glowing colour, Limbo is a comic that demands to be read, giving light to stories that remain unseen. Published by Breakdown Press.
Momo Gordon
Cover Artist
Liquid Persona TP (Mr)
Creative Team
- A/W/CAMomo Gordon
Description
A life in three parts. Momo Gordon’s taste for memories finds them excavating the past. Using their family history as a dig site, they draw upon artifacts to map out their story. In haunting panels, this collection of journal comics bleeds through to the present. Slowly, the liquid persona reveals itself. Limited to 1000 copies, each book is a unique handmade object, with text pages cut by hand. Momo Gordon is a self-taught artist focused on the emotional landscape. Based in Portland, Oregon, working primarily with graphite and handmade paper, their work explores sentient spaces, hostile architecture, and anthropomorphized objects. In sequential works or standalone pieces, characters often have four walls. You may have seen their work at Fisk Gallery, Dale Zine, or VROOM. And published by Kuš!, Can Can Press, Colorama, and Nieves Books.
